WHOO NEEDS A NAP? OWL HAT

Living in a wooded lot surrounded by wildlife provides a lot of artistic muses. The inspiration for this pattern is a pair of Barred Owls that have taken up residence behind our house. Barred Owls are known for their unique "who cooks for you" hooting call. 

YARN

 

Brooklyn Tweed Loft (100% American wool yarn; 275 yards/50 grams). One skein each: Pumpernickel (MC) and Sap (CC).

OR Equivalent fingering weight yarn.

 

NEEDLES/NOTIONS 

US 2 (2.75 mm) 16" circular

US 4 (3.5 mm) 16" circular

US 4 (3.5 mm) DPNs

Stitch Markers

Tapestry needle

GAUGE

6.5 sts/inch on US 2 (2.75 mm) needles

7 sts/inch on US 4 (3.5mm) needle 

This one size fits most close fitting colorwork toque is knit in the round on circular needles. It is suitable for an advanced beginner who is ready to step out of the box and try something new. Some people are daunted by the idea of knitting with more than one color, but it really isn't that difficult.
